The CUO and the COATS, Koraput sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

The Central University of Orissa, Koraput and The Council of Analytical Tribal Studies, Koraput signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the cooperation in the higher educational sector and tribal research development on 25.07.2017 at Koraput. On behalf of the CUO Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon'ble ViceChancellor, CUO and on behalf of the COATS, Koraput, Prof. P.C Mohapatra, Director, COATS signed the MoU in presence of the top officials of the CUO and the COATS. The MoU was signed for 3 years and it will be extended with mutual agreement.

While singing the MoU, Prof. Mohanty said "COATS is a pioneer in the tribal research of this region and it is a pleasure to be associate with it. For overall development of the tribal people this MoU is a welcome state and excellent beginning for both organization.". "We believe in healthy regionalism not in narrowness or in parochialism. Individually we sink but together we float and we can reach to the goal. We believe less in competition and more in cooperation. We are very much happy to sign the MoU" he added.

Prof. Mohapatra said while signing the MoU "by signing the MoU not only the region but also other parts will be benefited. Documentation of cultural heritage of the undivided KBK district particularly tribes like Kandha, Gaddba etc. Documentation of folk songs, musical instruments and rights tribes followed in their life will be initiated with the co-operation of the Central University of the Orissa".

The objectives of this MoU are to promote and enhance academic interest between CUO and COATS. To provide expert advice and support for the overall development of Centre for Tribal Welfare and Community Development of CUO into a Centre of Excellence in Tribal studies. To promote collaborative research activities between the institutions as well as with institutions of national and international repute. To carry out joint research projects, exchange of students and faculty, exchange of academic information and materials and to organize and participate in joint academic activities such as courses, conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures etc. Organizing skill development training programme at CTWCD of CUO for local tribal. Joint supervision of PG, M.Phil and Ph.D. thesis of students of School of Social Science as and when required as per the norms of the CUO for Co-supervisor. Prof. Bhavani Prasad Rath, OSD, Administration, Examination and Students affairs of the University highlighted some aspects of the MoU and Dr. Jagabandhu Samal, Consultant COATS informed on the benefits of the MoU. Prof. K.C Raut, Dean Academics delivered the welcome address and Dr. Kapila Khemundu, Hony. Director of CTWCD, Central University of Orissa, Koraput and Asst. Professor, Department of Sociology gave the vote of thanks. Among others Dr. Sarat Kumar Palita, Dean School of Bio-Diversity and Conservation of Natural Resources was present. Industry-Academia Interface. The CUO and the HAL, Sunabeda signs MoU

The Central University of Orissa (CUO), Koraput and The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL), Sunabeda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and enhance mutual academic and institutional ties among them. CUO Vice-chancellor, Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty and HAL Executive Director, Debasish Deb signed the MoU in presence of the top officials of the CUO and the HAL. The objectives of the MoU is to promote and enhance mutual academic and institutional ties between the CUO and HAL, provide advice for implementation of quality education at CUO & HAL and academic interaction by organizing special lectures at HAL on topics of relevance and to provide necessary help with regard to personality development programmes. CUO & HAL propose to collaborate each other in matters of mutual interest and to begin with, organize CUO-HAL distinguished lecture series by inviting renowned academicians/researchers/ scientists/ experts from India and abroad.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Mohanty said "CUO and HAL are twin giant organizations of this region adding that the MoU will cement the existing ties and provide academic exposure to the young engineers and technocrats of the HAL and their spouses. As per the MoU, the students of the CUO can get access to the facility of HAL through internship."
"HAL staff will also have access to the Library of CUO. Certificate and diploma programmes will be opened for the young officers and their spouses in due course. The MoU will further help both the institutions work jointly for the socio-economic and educational development of the vicinity" the CUO VC said. He conveyed his thanks to the HAL for allowing the CUO family to have access to the medical facilities at the HAL, Sunabeda.

HAL Executive Director Debashis Deb said the MoU will provide opportunity for the young officers and their spouses of the HAL, Sunabeda to enhance their qualification. The researchers also can work out with the CSR team and explore the near vicinity for their overall development.

School of Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources, CUO has signed MoU with Indian Space Research Organisation

Central University of Orissa has signed an MoU with University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain for mobility of students and staffs to European Countries for higher education.

The project MoU has been signed in Natural Sciences by Founder Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Surabhi Banerjee of Central University of Orissa and Enrique Lopez Veloso, Director, International Office, University of Santiago de Compostela in 2013 to pursue higher education in 12 European Institutes and Universities. The project is being led by Dr. Kakoli Banerjee, Asst. Professor, Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources.

Central University of Orissa is a member of the European Union for Promotion of Health through Research, Applied Technology, Education and Science (EUPHRATES) in India Project which offers 140 scholarships for mobilities to Europe. This is a unique opportunity for faculties and students to carry out studies (Undergraduates, Master, PhD and Post Doc between 1 semester and a full programme), research or teaching abroad. The programme tenure is from 15th July, 2013 to 15th July 2017.

EUPHRATES Project emerges as a proposal with a wide geographical scope, covering 9 states of Europe and 11 institutions from different parts of the Indian Country. This consortium has joined efforts in order to enhance cooperation for fostering excellence in training and research, promoting exchange of students and researchers from India to the European Union. The Universidade de Santiago de Compostela has coordinated this proposal, supported by the joint-coordinating Institution Dr. Babasahed Ambedkar Marathwada University.
