School of Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources, CUO has signed MoU with Indian Space Research Organisation

Central University of Orissa has signed an MoU with University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain for mobility of students and staffs to European Countries for higher education.
The project MoU has been signed in Natural Sciences by Founder Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Surabhi Banerjee of Central University of Orissa and Enrique Lopez Veloso, Director, International Office, University of Santiago de Compostela in 2013 to pursue higher education in 12 European Institutes and Universities. The project is being led by Dr. Kakoli Banerjee, Asst. Professor, Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources.

Central University of Orissa is a member of the European Union for Promotion of Health through Research, Applied Technology, Education and Science (EUPHRATES) in India Project which offers 140 scholarships for mobilities to Europe. This is a unique opportunity for faculties and students to carry out studies (Undergraduates, Master, PhD and Post Doc between 1 semester and a full programme), research or teaching abroad. The programme tenure is from 15th July, 2013 to 15th July 2017.

EUPHRATES Project emerges as a proposal with a wide geographical scope, covering 9 states of Europe and 11 institutions from different parts of the Indian Country. This consortium has joined efforts in order to enhance cooperation for fostering excellence in training and research, promoting exchange of students and researchers from India to the European Union. The Universidade de Santiago de Compostela has coordinated this proposal, supported by the joint-coordinating Institution Dr. Babasahed Ambedkar Marathwada University.

University has signed the MoU with University of Wananga, New Zealand for Collaborative programme on indigenous studies

A team consisting Professor Graham Smith, CEO/ Vice Chancellor of Te Whare Wānanga O Awanuiārangi: Indigenous-University (University of Wananga) New Zealand,  Ms. Melanie Chapman, International Coordinator and Perya Shot, International Manager are coming to the Central University of Orissa to launch a Centre for Indigenous Studies in Central University of Orissa. 

A formal MoU was signed in this regard on 4th December, 2013 at University Campus, Landiguda, Koraput. Professor Graham Smith, a distinguish scholar in the area of Māori Study has been at the forefront of Māori initiatives in the field of education and beyond. His recent academic works have centered on developing theoretically informed transformative strategies related to intervening in Māori cultural, political, social, educational and economic crisis. Professor Smith has made significant contributions to the political, social, economic and cultural advancement of indigenous Māori communities. He has also worked extensively with other indigenous peoples across the world, including Canada, Hawaii, USA mainland, Taiwan, Chile, Australia and the Pacific nations.The various research-oriented and documentations on tribal issues like preservation of their cultural heritages, agricultural practices, ecology, customs, professions, traditional practices, tribal health, indigenous knowledge and education can be undertaken by the University through this Centre for Indigenous Studies. Along with this the academic exchange programmes including student and faculty exchange programme will broaden the intellectual horizon of students and faculties of both the country.

University has signed the MoU with the British Council to hone the communicative skill of the students in English language the subject experts from the British Council are holding classes on regular interval round the year in Koraput Campus.
